Clear aligners offer a modern, discreet alternative to traditional braces. Aligners are thin, transparent trays that fit closely over your teeth. Each aligner is slightly different and applies gentle, controlled pressure to gradually move your teeth.
The first step is a consultation with your dentist to assess your teeth, gums and bite and determine whether aligner treatment is right for you.
Book a consultation to find out whether clear aligners are suitable for you and discover the treatment options available for your smile.
Discreet: Transparent trays fit closely to your teeth making them barely noticeable.
Removable: Unlike traditional braces you can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
Comfortable: There are no brackets or wires, although some pressure or mild tenderness is normal when starting a new aligner.
Convenient: You can continue to enjoy your usual foods and maintain your normal oral hygiene routine.
Clear aligners gently move your teeth into their new positions using a series of custom-made trays. Each tray applies controlled pressure to specific teeth, guiding them through small movements over time. Small tooth-coloured attachments may be used to help achieve precise movements, and IPR (interproximal reduction) may be required to create space between the teeth and achieve the planned result. As you progress through each set of aligners, your smile gradually moves towards its planned final position.
You need to wear them for 22 hours a day, they should only be removed for eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth.
Treatment time varies depending on your individual case, the amount of movement required and how consistently you wear your aligners.
Clear aligners can be suitable for many adults and teenagers, depending on their individual dental needs such as:
● Crowded or overlapping teeth
● Gaps between teeth
● Tooth rotations
● Certain bite problems
● Teeth that have moved following previous orthodontic treatment
They are not suitable for every case. Your dentist will assess your oral health, bite and the complexity of the tooth movements required before recommending treatment.
Your consultation is an opportunity to discuss what you would like to change about your smile and explore the treatment options that may be right for you.
Your dentist will carry out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, including photographs, digital scans and X-rays.
If clear aligners are suitable, your records will be reviewed by the 32Co orthodontists, who will create a personalised treatment plan. We’ll then talk you through your plan, explain what to expect at each stage and answer any questions you may have, so you can feel confident and fully informed before deciding whether to proceed.
Compared to traditional braces, clear aligners provide a far more pleasant experience. When fitting a new aligner tray there will be slight pressure that is minimal and usually disappears within a day or two.
Treatment is priced between £2500 - £4500 depending on your treatment plan. Finance options are available (including 0% finance).
