Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a cap that covers and restores a damaged, weakened, or cosmetically imperfect tooth. It strengthens the tooth and improves its shape, size, and appearance.

Dental Crowns

Protect & Strengthen Teeth

Dental crowns serve as an optimal solution for reconstructing teeth that have been broken or weakened due to decay or an extensive filling. A crown fits securely over the remaining tooth structure, enhancing its strength and restoring the tooth’s natural shape and contour. Crowns are occasionally referred to as caps.

Reasons for Needing a Crown

  • A tooth weakened by decay, large filling, or fracture.
  • A tooth after root canal treatment (to prevent breakage).
  • A cracked tooth (to hold it together).
  • Severe tooth wear from grinding or acid erosion.
  • Cosmetic reasons (covering discoloration or misshapen teeth).
  • To restore a dental implant.

Will the crown be noticeable?

No, the crown will be custom-made to blend seamlessly with the patient’s other teeth. The colour of adjacent teeth will be recorded to ensure a natural appearance. A temporary, typically plastic, crown will be fitted during the first appointment and replaced with the permanent crown in approximately two weeks.
